Description MDPS (Motor Driven Power Steering) system uses an electric motor to assist the steering force and it is an engine operation independent steering system.
Components Location 1. Steering wheel 2. Steering column 3. MDPS motor 4. MDPS ECU 5. Tie rod end 6.
Removal 1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. 2. Remove the driver crash pad lower panel. (Refer to Body - "Crash Pad Lower Panel") 3. Remove the steering column upper and lower shroud panel.
Oil Specification 1. The HFC-134a system requires synthetic (PAG) compressor oil whereas the R-12 system requires mineral compressor oil. The two oils must never be mixed. 2. Compressor (PAG) oil varies according to compressor model.
