Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are placed in the straight
ahead position.

| 2. |
Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-)
cable.
|
| 3. |
Remove the driver airbag module (DAB).
(Rerfer to Restraint - "Driver Airbag (DAB) Module and Clock Spring")

| 4. |
Remove the steering wheel.
(Refer to Steering System - "Steering Wheel")
|
| 5. |
Remove the clock spring.
(Rerfer to Restraint - "Driver Airbag (DAB) Module and Clock Spring")
|
| 6. |
Remove the multifunction switch.
(Refer to Body Electrical System - "Multifunction Switch")
|
| 7. |
Remove the crash pad lower panel.
(Refer to Body - "Crash Pad")
|
| 8. |
Disconnect the MDPS ECU connectors (A).
|
| 9. |
Disconnect the ignition switch connector (A).
|
| 10. |
Remove the fixed clip (A) and then remove the wiring from the steering
column.
|
| 11. |
Loosen the bolt (A) and then disconnect the universal joint assembly
from the pinion of the steering gear box.
|
| 12. |
Remove the MDPS assembly by loosening the mounting nuts (A) and bolt
(B).

| Disassembly |
| 1. |
Loosen the bolt (A) and then disconnect the universal joint assembly
from the steering column assembly.
|
| 2. |
To reassembly, reverse the disassembly procedure.
|
| Installation |
| 1. |
Install in the reverser order of removal.
|
| 2. |
Conduct the "EPS Type Recognition" by Diagnostic tool.
(Refer to MDPS Motor - "Diagnosis with Diagnostic tool")

| 3. |
Conduct the "SAS Calibration" by diagnostic tool.
(Refer to MDPS Motor - "Diagnosis with Diagnostic tool")
|
| 4. |
Check the DTC.
|
| 5. |
Turn off the IGN switch and wait for 20 seconds or more. Then check
the operation after starting the engine.
|
Removal 1. Remove the MDPS assembly. (Refer to Steering System - "MDPS Assembly") 2.
Removal 1. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported. 2.
Inspection 1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. 2. Remove the front door trim. (Refer to Body - "Front door trim") 3. Disconnect the power door mirror connector from the harness 4.
Description The cruise control system is engaged by the cruise "ON/OFF" main switch located on right of steering wheel column. The system has the capability to cruise, coast, accelerate and resume speed. It also has a safety interrupt, engaged upon depressing brake or shifting select lever.
