Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/recycling/charging station.

When the engine is cool, drain the engine coolant from the radiator.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - “Coolant”)

Remove the cowl top cover.
(Refer to "Cowl Top Cover")

| 5. |
Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the expansion valve (A) from the
evaporator core.

Disconnect the inlet and outlet heater hoses (A) from the heater unit.
|
| 7. |
Loosen the engine room cowl cross bar assembly mounting bolts.
|
| 8. |
Remove both sides of front seat assembly.
(Refer to Front Seat - "Front Seat Assembly")

| 9. |
Seprate the floor carpet (A).
|
| 10. |
Remove the main crash pad assembly.
(Refer to Crash Pad - "Main Crash Pad Assembly")

| 11. |
Disconnect the steering column connectors.
(Refer to Steering System - "Steering Column and Shaft")

| 12. |
Loosen the mounting nuts and through bolts in the frontal area and lower
the steering column.
(Refer to Steering System - "Steering Column and Shaft")

Remove the front air duct (A).
|
| 14. |
Remove the shift lever assembly.
(Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "Shift lever")

| 15. |
Disconnect the airbag control module (SRSCM) connector (A).
|
| 16. |
Disconnect the connector (A) and the mounting wiring fasteners in the
front pillar.

Disconnect the passenger compartment junction box connectors (A).

Disconnect the multi box connectors (A).

Disconnect the heater and blower unit connector.

Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the cowl cross bar assembly (A).

To install, reverse removal procedure.

Component Location 1. Cowl cross bar assembly
Removal 1. Disconnect the negative(-) battery terminal. 2. Remove the crash pad lower panel. (Refer to Body - "Crash Pad Lower Panel") 3. Remove the steering column upper and lower shrouds.
Description The compressor is the power unit of the A/C system. It is located on the side of engine block and driven by a V-belt of the engine. The compressor changes low pressure and low temperature refrigerant gas into high pressure and high temperature refrigerant gas.
